Design and Reliability Analysis of a Series/Parallel Hybrid System with a Rotary Engine for Safer Ultralight Aviation

چکیده
The conventional powertrain for ultralight aviation consists of a fixed pitch propeller connected to an internal combustion engine (ICE). Since ICEs have limited thermal efficiency (<40%), new and more efficient powerplant configurations recently been proposed in the scientific literature by adopting hybrid electric solutions. Hybridization has additional benefit increased safety thanks redundancy. This is very important issue aviation, where high percentage accidents are caused failure. In previous investigation, authors design series/parallel power system increase optimize fuel economy controlling working points during flight. A powertrain, derived from automotive Honda i-MMD system, analyzed this study reliability analysis performed underline improved obtained with system.
